Here’s a reminder of what’s upcoming this fall on Saturday nights after the worship service!

September 19th -

• Burger BBQ. 
• $3.00 for a burger, chips, drink. 
• Tickets on sale September 12th.

October 10th -

• Pizza night.
• Details forthcoming.

October 17th -

• Open brainstorming meeting.
• Anyone who wants to attend can come and help us think and come up with ideas on what to do before or after the worship service.
• The two questions we want to answer are:  1) What can we do to help us grow in Christlikeness?  2) What can we do to help us develop “strong stickiness”?
• Your input is definitely important here!

October 24th -

• Extended Worship Night.
• After the worship service, we’ll move over to the Holy Grounds Cafe and have a time of extended worship through song.
• Mike de Neve will lead this time.

Pastor Dennis, Kirk and I hope to see you each week this fall as we grow in Christlikeness!

Reminder that service starts at 5:30 p.m. this week and that this is a permanent time change.  See you then.

Service time change!

Beginning September 5, 2009, our Saturday night worship service will start at 5:30 p.m.

Why are we doing this?

• Helps our families with younger children.
• Gives us more fellowship time after the service.
• Gives us more opportunities for things like extended prayer and worship after the service.
• All of these things will help move us forward in knowing Jesus and being like Him.

Next after church dinner! 

We will be serving sub sandwiches on August 29, 2009.  For only $3 you get

• A sub sandwich
• Chips
• A drink
• Ice cream.

You can purchase your tickets at the café beginning August 15^th.

Special Kick-Off to the fall on September 5! 

Check your email in the days to come for more info on what we’re planning for September 5^th.  Not only will it be the first night of church @ 5:30, but also it’s the first weekend of Pastor Dennis’ series on prophecy.

We are looking for 1 propane grill to use Sat night, 7-25-09.  We have a propane tank but are short one grill.  If you can bring your grill to church please email me asap, talk to me at church tomorrow night or leave a reply to this post.

We have planned another hamburger/cheeseburger BBQ on the field for Saturday, July 25, 2009, immediately after church lets out!

If you came to the last one, you know how much fun it was!  If you didn’t come to the last one, you don’t know what you missed out on!

We are pre-selling dinner tickets on 7/18 at Holy Grounds and during the week at church and via e-mail.  It would be very helpful if you would pre-purchase your tickets so that we don’t run out of food.

A drink

Ice cream.

Be sure to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on.  We don’t have enough tables and chairs for everyone.

YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!

The leadership team for Saturday Night Worship (SNW) has been kicking around the possibility of adjusting the start time for the service from 6 pm to 5:00 or 5:30 pm.

What we’ve been thinking is that we want to continue to provide a convenient worship time that takes into consideration the present make-up of our church family and that also allows us to do the following:

• Provide more time after the service ends for fellowship and connection, i.e. strong stickiness.  Developing a sense of family and community is a core value of Emmanuel, and starting the service just 30 minutes earlier can help us in our commitment to this core value.

• Provide more time after the service ends to do some different kinds of occasional activities such as an extended worship night after the service is over (Core Value of Worship); an extended time of corporate prayer (Core Value of Prayer); seminars or classes or times of Q&A (Core Value of Spiritual Maturity/Discipleship and the Word of God)

• Provide Pastor Dennis more time with us, the church family.

• Be mindful of the fact that the worship team has to come back on Sunday morning to lead the 11 am service.  Moving the service ahead gives them a few more precious minutes with their families in the evening.

But before we do this, we’d like to hear from you!

Would moving the service time to 5:30 affect you and/or your family in a positive or a negative way?

Is 5:30 the best time?  Would 5:00 be even better?

Ultimately, what will best help to produce Christ-likeness in you and/or your family?

We would like to ask you to take a couple of weeks to think and pray and talk about this because we plan to do a more formal survey on 6-20-09 during the service.

We’ll announce more as the dates approach, but we wanted to give you planners an opportunity to get this on your calendars.

This weekend is “God Cares about the Prodigal!” It’s gonna be good stuff. Hope to see you there.
